Meet Adelaide Waterson – Guitar, Bass Guitar and Ukulele Teacher
Meet Adelaide Waterson, one of our new teachers at Maxx Music. We are really excited to be welcoming her to our team of music teachers. She has been a part of the Maxx Music family for many years, having attended Maxx Music as a student. She got her passion for playing guitar at 8 years old after watching Synyster Gates from A7X on tv. She has also been playing bass guitar for 6 years and ukulele for 2 years. The style Adelaide loves to play most is European metal/rock but she has a love for all genres. Her hope is to inspire other girls to play metal!
Adelaide has played in multiple bands over the years and have played at venues such as The Crown Hotel and Castle Hill RSL. Find out more about Adelaide and what makes her tick in our short interview below:
Who are your musical heroes?
My musical hero is Merel Bechtold from the band Dear Mother. Merel has been a huge influence on my musical journey, both as my guitar teacher and as a source of inspiration. Her incredible talent and creativity as a guitarist are unmatched. Her skill, patience, and guidance shaped me into the guitarist I am today. I owe so much of my growth and passion for music to her—she taught me not just technique, but how to truly express myself through the instrument.
How did you get into music?
I got into music pretty early on – my mum was always playing metal in the house, so I was surrounded by it from a young age. Growing up around guitar and piano, I was naturally drawn to instruments. Playing music always made me feel happy and connected, like it was the one thing I could truly lose myself in. It just felt like the right path from the start.
Outside of music, what are some other interests do you have?
Besides music, one of my big interests is learning Dutch. I’ve been at it for four years now, and I really enjoy the challenge. It’s a language that’s always intrigued me, and I’m excited to see how much more I can master. I’m also hoping to visit the Netherlands someday to experience the culture firsthand—it’d be amazing to use the language in real life!
Who is an up-and-coming artist I think you should keep an eye on?
Keep an eye on 51st Avenue – they’re a band on the rise with a sound that blends catchy melodies, gritty guitar riffs, and raw energy. Their unique style mixes modern rock with a bit of a classic edge, making them stand out from the crowd. With their powerful performances and growing fanbase, it’s clear that they are headed for big things. If you haven’t checked them out yet, now’s the time to start following their journey.
