School’s Out, Rock Out!!

These school holidays Maxx Music will be running Band in a Day sessions.

Bands will run during January in the Summer school holidays from 9.30am-4pm (drop off from 9am).

We are looking for:

Guitarists | Bassists | Drummers | Vocalists | Keyboard Players 

We are planning to run at least 3 bands these holidays which will be created at a level appropriate for the band members.  Please indicate experience and skill level on the enrolment form to assist with this process.

Intro Band – you’ve been playing for about a year and know how to play basic chords/rhythms/songs but wouldn’t describe yourself as an expert yet. (8-12yrs)

Rock Band – you’ve been playing for a while and you’re pretty good!  You are looking for opportunities to meet like-minded musicians to explore playing together as part of a band (10-14yrs)

Superstars – you are likely to be 14yrs+ and have been playing for several years.  You might have been part of a band before and are very confident in your abilities.

Enrolment is $100.   If you have not used your Creative Kids NSW Voucher, these can be used towards the cost of the workshop.

Band in a Day is open to musicians who are not Maxx Music students, so feel free to tell your friends.

Bands will be confirmed by the week commencing 16 December (earlier if possible)

Applications after this date will be considered week commencing 6 January 2025.

Submission of an application does not guarantee a place in a band.  As bands require certain instruments e.g. 1 x drummer, 2 x guitarists, 1 x bass player etc, it may not be possible to accommodate all applicants.  Alternative musical options will be offered where possible.

Workshops for guitarists, vocalists and percussionists

The summer holidays is a great time to discover new things.  These holidays we are offering workshops to develop vocal students’ performance skills, a fun percussion workshop for young drummers and a workshop to help guitarists get the most from their gear and create the sounds they want.

Vocal Performance and Microphone Technique with Georgia

Monday 13 January 10am-3pm  $80  SOLD OUT

Wednesday 29 January 10am-3pm  $80

Join Georgia for a fun and practical workshop to develop and improve your performance skills, including mic technique.  Participant will need to bring a song they have prepared to work on as part of the day.  Suitable for vocalists in Year 5 and above.

Demystifying Guitar Gear and Tone with Zach

Wednesday 22 January 9.30am-1.30pm  $60  LIMITED PLACES LEFT

Want to know how you can get the sound of your guitar heroes or create your own sound?  This is the workshop for you.  Join Zach to discover what your amp can do for you.  Suitable for intermediate to advanced guitarists in Year 6 and above.  

Drum and Percussion Workshop with Michael

 Tuesday 28 January 10am-12pm  $45

Discover different rhythms and learn different exercises, styles and genres of music in this fun percussion workshop with Michael. Using a variety of percussion instruments and a drumkit this will be a fun, social and enjoyable learning experience for young musicians with keen interest in learning drums and percussion.  Suitable for beginners and any young musicians who would like to explore rhythm and percussion.  Age 7yrs +

Intro To Ukulele and Guitar

Monday 20 January 10am-12pm GUITAR & 12.30pm-2.30pm UKULELE  $45 each 

These fun, 2-hour small group workshops are a great way to learn the basics and get started on either ukulele or guitar.  Learn simple chords and strums and you will be playing a song before the end!  Ukulele and Guitars provided if required.

Trials and Additional One-on-one Lessons

We have our fantastic teachers available for one-on-one lessons these holidays!
One-on-one music lessons are the most effective way of learning an instrument, and the holidays are a perfect time to try it out before we move in to Term 1 of 2025.

For new students, we are offering a FREE 30 minute trial class. 

For existing students, we are offering additional lessons for $47.50 for half an hour, or $80 for our one hour class holiday special!
