Meet Liz G, one of our exciting new vocal teachers.  She will be working across both of our schools and can’t wait to share her love of singing at Maxx Music. Liz has loved singing since she was just 3 years old, taking singing lessons and studying to attain her AMEB Certificate of Performance in Singing for Leisure, AMEB Grade 8 Rockschool, AMEB Grade 7 Musical Theatre. She is now furthering her vocal qualifications and experience by studying a Bachelor of Music Theatre at the Australian Institute of Music.

With her background in contemporary performance, she is so excited to help inspire students to sing their hearts out!

Why did you decide to teach music?

I have always loved all of my music teachers and I wouldn’t be where I am without them. I would love to make just as much of a positive impact on students as they did for me.

How have your musical tastes and influences changed over the years?

I absolutely love going to concerts and gigs, even if I don’t know the artist/s performing. This has definitely opened my eyes to some new music over the years such as jungle funk or jazz house. I’ll always love pop singer/songwriters like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande but more recently, I’ve been into UKG and House music after seeing a few different DJ gigs around Sydney and at festivals.

What has been your most rewarding experience as a musician?

After putting hard work into practicing and perfecting repertoire, it has been so rewarding to be able to collaborate so easily with ither msicians. Learning, how to pick up songs quickly, having a wide range of songs in my back pocket or knowing correct microphone technique has allowed me to broaden my “musical horizons” and gain new experiences with other musicians such as impromptu band performances at uni – and at a music institute, they happen just as much as you think they do!

What’s your go-to song or artist when you need a boost?

It would have to be “Adventure of a Lifetime” by Coldplay! It’s a song that I can listen to over and over again without getting sick of. Plus, it’s an instant mood booster. (I’ve seen it live twice!).
