School holidays mean music! We offer school holiday music activities to suit everyone! These school holidays we are offering FREE Trial Music Lessons and we are starting planning for our January activities which will include our Band in a Day workshops for young musicians who want to experience playing as part of a band and free trial music lessons for new students with a special offer for one-on-one music lessons for existing students.
Band in a Day – Castle Hill
Dates dependent on band participant availability. 9.30am – 3.30pm $100
Release your inner rockstar and be a part of our Band in a Day. Open to guitarists, drummers, bass guitarists, keyboard players and vocalists (other instruments considered upon application).
Band in a Day is open to musicians who are not Maxx Music students, so feel free to tell your friends.

Music Workshops – Rouse Hill
12-Bar Blues Piano Workshop
Monday 12 January 9:30am – 12:00pm $50
The perfect introduction for any young piano player who dreams of joining a band one day! This fun and accessible workshop will teach a simple 12-bar blues chord pattern, explore the C blues scale, and use playful activities like call-and-response and rhythm games. Students will create their own music while building confidence, creativity, and a love of self-expression at the piano. Places limited, so booking essential.
String Ensemble
Thursday 15 January 10am – 3pm $80
Maxx Music has recently created a string ensemble. Come and join the fun. Open to violin, viola and cello players. Workshop suitable for 7yrs +
Songwriting 101
Monday 19 January 10am-3pm $80
Join Kristin for this fun songwriting workshop for musicians aged 12-16 years. This creative workshop takes students from their very first lyric idea through to performing a brand-new original song. With practical tools and lots of room for creativity, it’s a chance to experiment, collaborate, and discover a personal songwriting voice. Knowledge of chords preferable so suitable for piano, guitar, ukulele players. The workshop will focus on lyrics, song structure, and chord progressions, with a bit of guidance on using AI to spark lyric ideas.
Guitar Heroes – Get Their Sound
Tuesday 20 January 9.30am-1.30pm $50
Zach will work with you to recreate the sounds of your favourite artists so that you can do it at home. Perfect for any electric guitarists keen to explore what they can achieve using an amp.
Musical Theatre Workshop
Date TBC 9.30am – 3pm $80
Workshop your favourite Musical Theatre song with Raven to develop your character and acting skills. Make new friends and learn how to take your singing performance to the next level. Suitable for 11yrs +
Ukulele 101
Wednesday 28 January 10am – 12pm $25
Don’t miss this last opportunity for a fun holiday experience! Enrol in our Beginner Ukulele Workshop and enjoy making music together with your child or grandchild.
ACE Your AMEB Exam – Building Confidence in Core Exam Skills
- Wednesday 14 January 9.30-10.30am Sight Reading | 10.45-11.45 General Knowledge
- Friday 16 January 9.30-10.30am Aural | 10.45-11.45am General Knowledge
These 3 workshops are designed to complement regular lessons and will help students taking AMEB piano and violin exams with 3 key, examined areas – sight reading, aural skills, and general knowledge. Each session is 1 hour and offers practical strategies and hands-on activities to build confidence and understanding.
Participants will:
- Learn how to approach sight reading with clarity and control
- Develop listening skills essential for aural tests
- Explore how to prepare for general knowledge questions about pieces, composers, and musical context
These workshop provide a supportive environment to ask questions, try new techniques, and gain valuable insights into exam preparation.
Suitable for students studying for Level 1 exams i.e. Prelim – Grade 4 in piano and violin.
Students studying at Level 2 i.e. Grade 5 and above (Grade 3 and above in the case of Aural) , one-on-one sessions are available.
Whilst preference will be given to Maxx Music Students, these workshops are open to any child or young person taking AMEB exams
Trials and Additional One-on-one Lessons
We have our fantastic teachers available for one-on-one lessons these holidays!
One-on-one music lessons are the most effective way of learning an instrument, and the holidays are a perfect time to try it out before we move in to Term 1 of 2026.
For new students, we are offering a FREE 30 minute trial class at our Rouse Hill and Castle Hill Music Schools. They are located at Rouse Hill Town Centre and 4/3 Packard Avenue, Castle Hill 2154 (Just off Victoria Avenue).
For existing students, we are offering additional lessons for $48.50 for half an hour, or $80 for our one hour class holiday special!

PLEASE NOTE: All workshops are dependent upon having sufficient participants to ensure a good experience. Maxx Music reserves the right to cancel workshops with less than the minimum number of enrolments. In this circumstance, a full refund will be offered.
Creative Kids Vouchers are not refundable once redeemed, but a full credit with Maxx Music will be offered that can be used towards lessons.
