Tell us about your experience as a performer.

I used to play at a hospital as a part-time gig, which was awesome because I got to bring a bit of happiness to the patients. One of the highlights of my musical journey was helping to compose my high school’s graduation song. That was such an amazing experience, and it felt great to share my passion for music with my others.

Why did you decided to teach music?

I wanted to share my love for the piano with others and let everyone know that people of all skill levels can enjoy it. My parents forced me to learn the piano, but I came to love it thanks to my amazing teacher. I believe that having a good teacher is essential when learning something new, and my goal is to be that good teacher for my students.

Can you describe a moment when you felt like you had truly ‘made it’ as a musician?

A moment when I truly felt like I had ‘made it’ as a musician was when I produced a full song for my high school graduation ceremony. It was an incredible experience that made me realize my ability to collaborate with others. I understood that music isn’t just about playing pieces written by composers; it’s a powerful tool for expressing oneself.
The song was cherished by my graduation year, and while it might not have been a polished production, it was filled with nostalgia and the emotions we experienced during our high school years. Being able to convey a message through writing a song made me believe that I had truly “made it”.

What challenges have you faced in your musical career, and how did you overcome them?

One of the biggest challenges I faced in my musical career was overcoming stage fright. I used to be terrified of playing on stage and would get extremely nervous when people watched me. I could practice a piece perfectly, but as soon as someone was present, my nerves would get the best of me, and I would make mistakes.
To overcome this, I kept pushing myself step by step because my dream was to let people hear my music. I started by participating in local open mics, playing for charity events, and performing at my high school concerts. These experiences gradually made my stage fright fade away.

Even today, I still get nervous when playing in front of a crowd, but I’ve learned to manage those feelings and be my best self on stage. I’ve realized that most people barely notice the mistakes; they care more about the overall experience and the emotions conveyed through the music.

What’s a truly unforgettable concert you’ve attended?

One truly unforgettable concert I attended was Coldplay’s concert. Their performance was nothing short of magical. They managed to heighten both visual and auditory senses throughout the show. The light displays were incredible, and when combined with their music, it made everyone “feel” the songs in a deeply emotional way.
The concert was a rollercoaster of emotions. During the slow songs, everyone sang along, feeling every note and lyric. When the rock songs played, the wristbands we were given lit up and shined in different colours, making us feel completely in the moment.

This concert was the best because they genuinely made the audience “feel” their music. I would definitely go see Coldplay again if I had the chance.
